Old calipers, rebuild or replace?

Which calipers?
Original 76-77 disk calipers?
Chevy swap?

Usually easiest to just get rebuilt calipers, but you can get a seal kit and rebuild them yourself.

If you have original Ford disk calipers the T-bird/Lincoln/ Full size caliper should bolt on, and has a larger piston.

Might have steel pistons? if so they're worth rebuilding.....its really easy. The ones you buy will most likely have phenolic pistons which I personally don't like/have had a tendency to stick.

Will they use regular for calipers as cores for T-bird calipers? I never had to exchange any.

Do the T-bird/Lincon calipers fit in the stock suport? ?:?

I haven't done it myself, but my understanding is they are a direct interchange.

I have calipers from a '76 Mark IV, and they are 6.08" across the top where they ride the support.

I just installed T-bird calipers on my bronco. There was a ridge on the calipers where the brake line bolts to the caliber. I used a die grinder and ground a small amount off the ridge so the brake line would seat properly and crush the copper washers. It was worth the effort. Noticeable differance in my brakes stopping power. I did use the T-bird brake lines from BC Bronco.

Its really easy to rebuild and pretty cheap. I am actually going to be rebuilding a pair of dual piston calipers this weekend as $8 each is a lot cheaper than 75 each.
