I am currently building a bracket for my Exploder serp belt driven strrroker (thanks Allen for pics) with a TC style (looks similar to an Exploder p/s pump but has 1600psi and almost 5gpm). It is almost down to the frt cross member and the York fits above it...I really like the placement because the top of the York doesn't stick above the valve cover. This bracket clears the wtr pump outlet on the drivers side with plenty of clearance.

I think this is the only good way to get a york compressor on an explorer serp setup and not have to play with the passenger side breackets. You need to have the remote reservoir mounted up above somewhere, right? Are you putting the reservoir it in front of the valve cover?

Yes, mounted above it. this is the problem with high flow pumps and the exploder mtg location. Where/how do you keep the inlet to the pump below the outlet of the reservoir...there is not a lot of room to work with. Mine worked, just thought it was ugly and I wanted my York back. So with a couple weeks work finding hoses, building brackets, etc... : )

Reservoir outlet will be mounted directly in front of the pump (appr 10" away) and on the grill support. I'm increasing the size of the outlet to 12AN for less friction loss/restriction

Your welcome nvrstuk!
Here's another picture of my York and "P" pump on an Explorer bracket. I chopped off the top of the Explorer bracket and made another bracket that bolts onto the Explorer bracket. The separate bracket holds both the York and power steering pump. The pump sets as low as I could fit it and the reservoir is bolted on the core support. It took me about a day to fab it up.
I love the York.

I had 2 full days just trying to re-route my lower hose where I wanted it! Got a pile of hoses on the shop floor!

obviously, nobody could afford to pay me to fab for a living... ;D

I got mine from a Kenworth dealer for around 70. I think nvrstuk found his at Ryder.

For the guys running the Cummins 4BT
$120 gets you an air compressor that will run off your cam drive. Then you mate your hydraulic pump to the air compressor (designed to bolt right up)

I think if you used one of these in a PTO setup you would have more air than you could use.

Shown here an air cooled and a high volume water cooled unit

Source for those? The vacuum pump on my 6B is about to become redundant. Hopefully I can still bolt the PS pump to the back of the compressor.

Truck wrecking places....
The power steering would need the splined coupler to mate with the air compressor instead of the gear. It's quite common for them to still have the power steering pump from the OTR still on the compressors at the wrecking yard. My understanding is that they operate at a higher PSI/GPM than a passenger vehicle .
I just used a Vickers hydraulic pump, and had it rebuilt and adjusted for 1200PSI / 4gpm. Since I wanted a remote reservoir anyway it didn't matter as long as it didn't have metric connections.

There are two different rotations, make sure you tell them what engine you are installing it on.

I have a Viair 450c mounted under the hood on the passenger fender that fills a 2.5 gallon tank under the passenger floor. I only use it for filling my 33s when I come off the beach right now. I plan on adding another 450c I have and another tank to speed the process up. In the near future the air will also be used for airhorns and possibly air lockers if Igo that route. The compressor set up was originally in my pick up and used to run air horns and air up 35s. It was slow but got the job done. Supplied the air horns good enough to get my point across at 150 psi.

As far as sources for a York with a serp pulley... I noticed the bearing is the same between the York SC206 (smaller, compact size pulled from a vw) and the Visteon unit in the Explorers. I am using the serp pulley from the Visteon unit with the clutch hub from the York... if that makes sense. Not 100% sure if it will work and won't know till spring when I get the truck running again but it might be something to look into...

Used Explorer alt bracket and a Ford Van PS bracket (uses a Saginaw pump trucks used different pump). Lot of cutting down of the Ford Van bracket to get it to fit. Then a bracket on the AC compressor pad to fit a York.

Probably would have been easier to go with all Ford Van stuff. But I made this work.

Don't have a more recent picture, but have another idler pulley and belt on. Valve cover is welded back up.

I installed the ARB Twin since it's already set up for the lockers if my ARB single ever fails. It puts out 3 cfm @ 90psi continuous duty. Not bad for a 12v compressor.
It's low profile design is just what I needed to fit where my aux fuel tank was. I was able to install both ARB compressors there.

Creative. How do you plan to tension it?

Stock Explorer tensioner on alternator bracket. Added another idler pulley...

Please note the custom radiator hose holder.

Idler, needs to be shimmed slightly.

Passenger side explorer tensioner.

Oh, yeah. I'm not sure why I didn't remember that it was on the passenger side.
