I have to say, Being a lifelong Californian I always thought this place was the best because of beaches, babes, sun, and mountains. Now I can add to that car preservation.

That's true. Every car in the world has probably come through California.

I have been slowly plugging away at the undressing of the Bronco. I thought I would put up some progress pics. I am hoping to lift the body off in the next few weeks. FIL (father in law) is picking up the floor pans I need this friday. I am getting excited. On a side note, I am coaching my eldest sons (the eventual owner of the Bronco) this year. I chose to make the team name "The Broncos".

stripped down

We had a productive day. Got the engine and drivetrain pulled and on the stand. Also, we finished stripping the frame of the remaining suspension. So now we are ready to send the body, frame and misc. parts to be blasted and some powder coating. We will also be sending the engine and flywheel to the machine shop necessary overhaul work. All in All, a satisfying day.

more progress

Well it's been a busy week. We got the parts back from the blaster and started priming on the evenings and weekend. All bare metal is covered with either POR15 or epoxy primer. All processes went great until the last coat of POR15 topcoat for the frame. Original pass on frame with product laid down and looked factory quality, but second pass was a little hot and wouldn't flow, which will result in a little extra labor added to finishing the frame. Also, cut out cargo floor and driver floor and will replace this week. Between paint steps and cutting, we also tore down the not so original 289 engine for rebuild inspection.

Thats the namesake at this point. But we are now contemplating other colors than just green. May not stay Spartan Green. We'll see.

You'll find that picking the right color is perhaps the hardest part of building a Bronco! Good progress so far. ;D

Looks good, but a little tip. That dust mask is only good for dust. Isocyanates will definitely get past the dust mask. You need a full respirator mask when spraying any urethane or other rust inhibitors/primers etc. etc.

I know! I couldn't locate the respirator. Have to get another I guess. FIL (the photographer) was wearing one though. I will have to talk with him about putting incriminating evidence online.
