I wouldn't be looking to get out of the business if I knew a shop owner around here that was a Bronco Brother. Great project.

So my contributor status lapsed and I saw how long it has been since I last posted on this. WOW! A lot has happened since late 09. I will let out a few pics a day to fill you all in on the project. I have decided on the green. I hope to be painting in a few weeks. The pics are from just before the primer was applied. what looks like primer is actually a polyester primer (filler).

Well when you get it done it will be time to get a trailer and fill it full of gas and do a restorical run back to the Yukon. It'll be slightly more expensive than the last time it went there but good family memories. Can you imagine the alcan highway in a Bronco back in those days. I wonder how many times he had to bolt the exhaust system back on.

My family didn't take it to the Yukon. The PO family did. I have spent too much time on body work to let this get jacked up.

The PO spec'd out 16" wheels. I have them beautifully powder coated. Hub caps won't fit I believe. The floor I went with single stage paint. It will be easier to touch up when needed. The outside is being done bc/cc with Nexa Autoccolor (waterborne in CA). I will paint the dash and roll bar with their ceramic clear. Should be really durable. If you are wondering why I wouldn't use that on the floor...it takes a lot of prep to spray waterborne and make it look good. Not worth it there if you ask me.

I have now POR15'd the rust prone areas of my top after replacing the left window panel. I have so much time invested in this thing it is crazy. Had I known how much time I would have found a cherry top. Do they exist though? It seems to me that most tops would be comprimised based on the design and materials used at the time. I have repaired, replaced and had fabricated many parts on this thing. My goal is a long surviving top, even though I plan to have her topless most of the time. SAM_7781.JPG

I had our painter finally spray my dash and parts, the bulkhead, gate license bracket, and hinges. They turned out very nice.

I have been working away a lot lately on my rig but I haven't posted any pics. I am working on rebuilding the dash and heater box in the next few days but I wanted to post a picture of the color I chose. It is British Racing green.

I used to have nightmares of British racing green because of a Triumph I did years ago. Actually the nightmares were because of the owner.

I have spent about 3-4 months, a little at a time, working on the bodywork for my top. Today primer was applied to the top and lift gate. I hope to have color on it next week.

So another fathers day is upon us and I don't have the Bronco running. I have been "trying" to have it ready for a Fathers Day show near my shop. Well I didn't get her running, but I got her where I can roll her to a parking spot for the show. Better late than never. I have to have it on the road soon, I have a boy turning 16. He can have the Lexus. I will have the Bronco.
