looks like you're doing a good job of removing that paint. if anything you can change the oil after you've ran it for a bit
Lol, you don't think an oil filter would catch flakes of paint, lol of course it would, it catches things as small as iron filings.
should have said oil access. oil gets to the rollers, paint settles, etc
Like I said, show us where everyone is good with painting the inside of the block, and probably using spraycan paint. I know of some powdercoated oil pans, thats about it. even powdercoatd valve covers are only exterio
and drag racers opened the motor every race?
The only stuff that gets through a good oil filter is smaller than 10 microns. You clearly have no clue how an oil filter even works, anything that doesn't get through the filter is trapped its not possible for it to recirculate. How can it recirculate against pressure??? DUH. You pride yourself as the ultimate know it all, yet your comments suggest you dont have a clue how a simple oil flter works.Watch any video from Eric on I Do Cars. He does weekly engine tear downs. One thing I have seen is that an oil filter will not keep crap in the oil from circulating around. Lots of stuff gets by.
Oil only leaks OUT from between the bearings & crank/cam, so no. That paint will never go in....should be concerned about this bearing in the front, as I can see the grit sitting on it.
That applies to crappy filters. How many of those videos show engines that have exclusively used quality (Ford/MC/Wix...) oil filters?...an oil filter will not keep crap in the oil from circulating around. Lots of stuff gets by.
I always use the wixOil only leaks OUT from between the bearings & crank/cam, so no. That paint will never go in.

And you pride yourself on knowing how an engine works without understanding that before the filter can catch anything it has to go thru the pick-up screen and the oil pump - with risk to plugging one and damaging the other. The only stuff that gets through a good oil filter is smaller than 10 microns. as the oil degrades the paint, it's not flakes, it's microns or smaller particles, that then reattach to other parts.Lol, you don't think an oil filter would catch flakes of paint, lol of course it would, it catches things as small as iron filings.
No.Should I just use my finger sander and clearance this?
Is there a slinger or washer missing between the crank & gear? Is the gear on backward? Is the camshaft retainer on backward?Definitely hitting!
Gear is not backwards. There is no slinger behind. Idk if there was or wasn’t. Internet says it’s a common problem. And to use a carbide bit to clearance it. Internet says that theres nothing that goes behind it. But it’s just ai. I taped everything off and took some material off. But it’s still hitting. I’m fine just going with a single. As idk how deep I can go.No.

Rotate the crank by hand so the gear slides out until the chain is straight, then mark or measure it, push the gear back, and measure how much shim washer it would need behind it to hold it out at the correct position.
And what do you think happens to the particles less than 10 microns that get through the oil filter when the oil is changed. What are those other parts they attach to ?? What damage do they cause and where is your proof that particles less than 10 microns magically attach to other parts, or are you just making that up???as the oil degrades the paint, it's not flakes, it's microns or smaller particles, that then reattach to other parts.
There is nothing that goes behind the crank gear, also it would be clearly obvious if the gear was installed backwards.Gear is not backwards. There is no slinger behind. Idk if there was or wasn’t. Lol, thats just funny. And you pride yourself on knowing how an engine works without understanding that before the filter can catch anything it has to go thru the pick-up screen and the oil pump - with risk to plugging one and damaging the other.
Quit insisting on being right and think it through.
No, it's sad that you think so.Lol, thats just funny.
No actually the comment was funny, ridiculous but certainly funny. For a moment i forgot you are the ultimate know it all on this forum, thats actually funny too.. you need to take your own advice. No, it's sad that you think so.
Is this timing set the same as you had in your picture on post #1 of this thread ? That pic looks as if there was no clearance issues ,,, as Paul asked ther does seem to be a little arch / alignment issue either Carl a cam gear ? Or is the pic deceiving?Hits keep on coming! Should I just use my finger sander and clearance this? Definitely hitting! Again I did not put this together.
