Here's the biggest thing I could stuff on my uncut 71.

To each his own but why would you put thoes on a 4X4? I am all for putting big rims on our rigs, but not with low profile street tires. :'( Not only that but if I were to do that I would not use a black steel wheel. That is the great thing about this country is you can set up the rig the way you like I just do not agree with it.

Here's my uncut 66'

Here's a picture of my uncut 66' with 8" American Racing wheels and
31x10.5 tires with a 3 " lift. I know that I wont be able to fit anything bigger without a body lift. While doing the body work I trimmed the inner fenders just to be safe. But I'm too old to do the crazy climbing most of the guys do so I'm happy with the look I got.

- Steven in SC's rig

This front lower quarter spot seems to be the real trouble area. Incidently, I would even rub on my flared EB with 33s and 3" lift in the very same spot wheeling. This comes down to a height of tire and lift issue. Where as the other top part of the quarter open that may have to be rolled is a tire width and wheel issue as much as it is a lift issue. Not going to know until we try unfortunately, but this has been a good thread to gauge what is gonna work and what is gonna flop. This is my first uncut I'm working with.
Probably anyone who wheels any good amount is gonna need to do some creative quarter and fender rolling even with lifts if they want to avoid big damage to body and tires. Another thread of the little spots we tweak and trim might be a nice addition to this thread.

That was the trouble spot on mine. That are is now hammered back flat and I have not since had a problem. The tires are very close when stuffed to that front lip. I have about a finger or twos worth of clearance. I will try to find a flex shot so that everyone can see the room when the rear tires are tucked.

Mine cleared fine in 99% of situations. The one time it rubbed it pulled the fender out causing that pic. The axle was shifted forward on that side at full stuff (if you can visualize that) and it just barely kissed that inner front fender enough to ding the metal.

Tires

To each his own! I tried the 20's to see if I liked them. And I do. They look better than stock boring white walls. I've already changed back.

Has anyone tried running a 5.5 lift with uncut fenders? I would like to see what that would look like.
I plan on trying to keep my fenders stock, for now.

man, that looks like garbage with the stock size tires on it. I hope they didn't keep it like that.

Sorry you don't like them, I do.

So what size tire/wheel combo did that turn out to be? If it was an aggressive mud tire on there, I could get used to it pretty quick.

I should be mounting the 33x10.5 M/Ts in a couple months. This is my current 31x10.5 stuffed with 3" of lift so I should have no problem. I have rolled the lips up, and moved the forward lower corner out by remounting the support strut a couple inches.

I went with 16" rims to give the rear brakes some more room since I got into some mud and clay on the trails sometimes. The rims have 4" back spacing and rub only a bit on the driver's side radius arm. 245's are about 31x9.5 so you would have to get a 265-75 or a 285-75 to get the size tire you wanted in 16".
