Size of the tapered hole is different between '76-'77 and earlier arms. PS arms were beefier than manual steering arms.

You might be able to find a tapered sleeve/shim that fits in between, rather than have to buy a new pitman arm. The downside to that though, is if your hole has been damaged due to continual wobbling over time.

This a recent thing, or have you been driving it that way very much?

Another alternative would depend on which steering linkage you have. If original, then changing that out is not as reasonable as changing the pitman arm (price-wise) but if you have an aftermarket adjustable one, you might be able to buy just the correct upper rod end for the draglink instead.
