I'm rigging up an in tank fuel pump. Anyone had any issues using plastic zip ties in the tank. I tried using hose clamps but it won't fit in the sending unit hole with those on.
I wouldn't even consider it when there are options like safety wire clamps or stainless zip-ties.... https://clamptitetools.com/ these are the shit.....
I'm sure the correct plastic would be fine. Getting cable ties in the right plastic would be the hard part. Materials research and probably sourcing them from a place that has tracable sources (McMaster, not eBay)
Next thoughts, in tank pump, hose clamp was first choice, doesn't sound like this is the proper place for a plastic cable tie. What are you trying to attach to what?

Not attaching the pump to the hose...I'm using hose clamps for that. I'm needing to attach the pump its self to a hanger I fabricated to my sending unit. Think I'll try the stainless steel zip ties.
SS ties would have to be really tight to hold securely without slipping. Any black plastic zip-tie should be fine, but stick one in a jar of gas for a few days to check that it doesn't soften or get sticky.
If you use SS, I'd add some fuel/vapor/emission line scraps to give it some friction against the motor body. Don't use vacuum line, coolant hose, or silicone.
