Here is one of my latest projects almost complete.

In the interest of responsible back-country use, treading lightly, and having a 4 1/2 year old daughter that loves to go camping and wheelin' with my wife and I......

I have added to my rear cargo rack the ability to carry a potty.
Not the most exciting, sexy project, but with human waste being such a hot-button issue in the Sierra Nevadas, I figured I'd be part of the solution and not the problem. Besides...it has been a two person project to help my daughter whenever she has to potty in the woods, now she can go on her own.

Cool project. Great idea too! Though you might run into a problem getting people to help you if you roll ;) :p Also, what the main rack made from?

Awesome idea, although I agree with the previous post. I don't think you can seal/strap/fasten that potty enough. ;D

Might want to rethink those hooks hanging out there at Eye level.
Wouldn't want to trip and hook myself to the rack ,50 miles from nowhere.

Lots of places, like A-A Mfg. sell all sorts of tabs and such, inexpensive also.

What's one of those 'potties' cost? Are they leak proof when sealed up?

On the topic of the toilet leaking, you can get a "crapper" from a rafting store. THey are made out of the large ammo cans adn have an interior plastic can as well. I have taken these things down class 5 rapids and they have never leaked. With teh interior plastic liner with a screw on cap then being in the water tight ammo can you could be pretty sure it won't leak. Look at a rafting store.

Good idea. Since "The Bumper Dumper" is already taken you could call yours "The Crapper Rack". On the trail it would be "shaken not stirred". ;D

Real porta potties are really sealed well. just remember while sitting in the sun and bouncing on the trail the inside of the pottie will build up some kind of pressure plus running from sea level to 8,000 feet will add pressure too. so rember before you use it leave the lid down and open the flush valve to vent the pressure. If you get water or other stuff!! on top of the flush valve and then open the flush gate you will wish the hell you listened to me. Remember vent, Squat, then flush.

As for the trailer hitch version where's the seat belt. Here in California if you ride in the back of a truck you have to be under a shell or wearing a seat belt.
Hell here in california that crapper might have to have handicap rails around it too. At least no one will tailgate you.

Hit the right rock on the trail that bucket will be self dumping.

This crapper is supposed to be sealed and leak proof....I still put it as low as I could, out of the way in the event there was a leak. Putting on the roof rack was out of the question.

It cost me somewhere around $50-$60. Will hold 2 1/2 gallons of crap.

And the warning about the pressure build-up is much appreciated.

And I must say this has generated some entertaining responses.
