I am getting ready to replace my stock power steering pump with a new unit. What do I need to use to get my old pully off of the pump? Also will the system self bleed itself when I fill it up? I plan on disconnecting my return line and pumping the old fluid out of the gearbox and lines before I remove the old pump, the return hoses are fairly new and the pressure hose looks pretty new as well so they should be ok?

You'll need a puller to remove the pulley from the pump. You can get them on loan at AutoZone but they're cheap and handy enough you may as well buy one. You'll need to work the air out of the system after you have everything buttoned up. Depending on what new pump you go with you may need a new pressure line due to the different fittings on the new pump. I recommend a new Saginaw pump. We sell them plus the brackets you'll need, as do most of the other vendors as well. Good luck.

got my pump installed. It is making a whining noise while running and will squeal when turning the wheels. Also when I killed the engine there was fluid running out of the filler tube. I didnt over fill the pump. Whats going on?

Sounds like it just needs to be bled. Jack up the front so the wheels are off the ground. Start the engine, and turn the wheel lock to lock several times.

If you have a belt squeal the tension may not be tight enough.
Use a good quality PS fluid and drive it for 2 miles through residential streets making left and right turns. This will also help get all the air out of the system.
