Hey Chuck,

Looks like the tag is still attached to the box. What info does that have? How many turns lock to lock?

It’s a Bronco-specific box made by Saginaw and is about 4 turns lock to lock. I’d just have it rebuilt. Where are you located?

If your box is only leaking, it is probably in better shape that most of the cores that go through a rebuilder.
You have the more desirable ratio of the factory boxes as well.
You really should consider just having your rebuilt if going that far, or get a reseal kit and do just do a reseal if everything else is still good.

Any chance of indulging us with some pics of the rest of your Medium Emerald ‘77?

Unfortunately that is most of the Green. It was painted grey 30 years ago or more. I got it from my brother in law. I have daily driven it for the last six years. It sat I'm my brother in laws garage for 12 and his dad's garage for 15 yrs.

I plan on redoing it when I retire . Rear fenders were cut and some weird 1986 mustang heads were put on it. Runs great...love driving it.

Someone was way ahead of their time - now grey is one of the most popular colors on the road. With only 18 years of use, it’s barely broken in by Bronco standards! Glad you kept it pretty much in the family. Surely it’s much happier out on the road, and looks to be well cared for.....enjoy!

It is leaking at the input shaft or output shaft side? If either get a seal kit and replace it. Get and use the proper tool to remove the pitman arm, meaning NOT a tie rod fork and a hammer.

its been great!!! I love daily driving it. The thought of tearing it down to restore it kills me cause I drive it every day. I might just have to pick up a basket case and rebuild it and leave this one alone. Rebuild the motor....keep the 2150 carb....she runs and drives like a dream.

The leak is coming from the top of the gear box. If it do those four bolts and replace the gasket maybe that will fix it.

I've seen the top leak before. Can't remember if that is a gasket or O-ring.
Don't touch the center nut/adjuster, too often people try to adjust this thinking it is for the play in the box and end up putting too much preload in the box and then you will need a rebuild. You can take the top off and put it back on without touching that adjuster.
