I've seen the top leak before. Can't remember if that is a gasket or O-ring.
Don't touch the center nut/adjuster, too often people try to adjust this thinking it is for the play in the box and end up putting too much preload in the box and then you will need a rebuild. You can take the top off and put it back on without touching that adjuster.
That's what I was hoping. I grabbed a wrench to see if it was loose....it wasn't. Checked to see if I could loosen it ...Thor must of put it on...

I'm gonna get my wife to try....

Probably Thor put the pitman nut on, which must be removed along with the pitman arm in order to get the cover off (the sector shaft comes with it) without messing with the adjustment.

Unthread the nut, remove the lock washer, get the correct pitman arm puller, pull off pitman arm, remove top cap of steering box, replace seal, put steering box cap back on, reinstall pitman arm, install lock washer, tighten nut, done.

This will make a mess if the box is still full of fluid. Once you replace the seal, you'll need to fill the pump back up and bleed the system.

Ok. I am sure everyone is freaking out wondering what happened with my steering box. I went down too many rabbit holes and here is where I am at.

Do I send my original box to redhead and spend $650 plus to have them rebuild it?
https://redheadsteeringgears.com/shop?year=1977&make=Ford&model=Bronco

Buy a Borgeson for $520 and maybe have to switch hoses and a u-joint. https://www.cjponyparts.com/borgeso...rbox-with-14-1-ratio-bronco-1966-1977/p/SB20/

Or buy Tom's offroad bronco for $900 .

I am inclined to send mine in to Redhead because I know it fits and has all the right hose fittings.

I would have the same inclination as you.
