Finally got the body off the frame this weekend, kind of a pain to do by yourself. It is funny the garage seemed so big when we bought this house last year, but a torn apart bronco takes up tons of space. Pretty pumped to finally start digging into the mechanical work. I am going to stimulate the economy of some suppliers; suspension, disc brakes, power steering, NV3550, 23 gal tank.
I am still not done with the body work though. I need to get the floors all welded up. The PO didn’t spare the grease on this rig. In the interest of not burning my house down I decided to pull the body well still screwed together so I could get access to the bottom to clean.
I am leaning toward a zero lift suspension. It has cut rears with new 31” tires now. The tires barely rubbed the front when turned. I plan on putting a 1” or 2” body lift on for the tranny swap. This will be a street rig with a minor amount of fire road type off road stuff. Any reason to go with a lift? I was shying away from a lift cause of all the troubles I read about with steering, wobble etc. The rig actually handles very well prior to tear down.
