https://460efiguys.com/ Was the site I was looking at.

I understand the concerns about "Legal" conversions etc... My bronco is a 74 registered in the C_____IST state of California and is smog exempt. Not once have I had the DMV or a Police Officer inspect it. For all they know I have a 2026 hybrid engine swapped from a Prius.
Let's be clear. Your 74 is NOT SMOG EXEMPT!!!

Your 74 is not required to be smog inspected. (not the same) The fact that you do not subject yourself to bi-annual self-incrimination does not mean that you are exempt from the laws. You are only exempt from the inspections.

If you get tagged as a "Excess smoking vehicle" and reported to air quality management, and you have money...you will get a visit.

The fact that they don't know you are breaking the law does not mean you are not breaking the law. Which is fine for an individual scofflaw. But it creates an insurmountable hurdle for business. This is why you can't find anyone selling performance chips, EGR delete, DEF delete etc without securing a CARB EO exemption and paying the individual State extortion fees.

It also creates a logistics nightmare for companies like Summit, Jegs, Etc. where they can't advertise products for sale on pollution controlled vehicles, so you have to lie to them to give them deny-ability. All of this is in violation of the Commerce Clause, and creates a de-facto interstate tariff. But until it gets past the 9th circuit it remains law. So there's that.

Yup. Law breaker over here just living my best life... :ROFLMAO:

I put another sticker on the car the other day. I wonder how many modification violations I will get tagged for now.

I don't know whose website you are looking at, but I do not have one. The best way to get in touch with me is by email.

This would technically be illegal too. That's how insane the laws we are fighting are. Don't forget to write your congress critters, there is a big push going right now.

You have to consider the source of your block when it comes to emissions regs. You can use a newer block in an older vehicle, but then that vehicle must meet the requirements of the newer block. Bolting a carb, aftermarket EFI, or even a Mustang system onto an Explorer block would mean that it fails to meet the OBD2 standards. Now, if it's an aftermarket block that was never in a production vehicle, you have some freedom assuming the vehicle itself isn't bound to other regulations. Most guys at the local race track or car meet are probably in violation and don't know it. But they have only been targeting the tuners so far. If you haven't yet, read up on the EZlink thing going on right now.

I still like the Mustang system and would run it over anything aftermarket. But the EEC-V system makes up for all of the EEC-IVs shortcomings.
I have a Mustang a9 computer ill send you if you want it. Not sure of its condition for all the help ypu have given me over the years.

I know I am enjoying my explorer efi. I knew absolutely nothing when I started my my conversion. Electronics are good till they are not. If you prefer “the look” aftermarket will be your winner. I just know the overall reliability and availability of parts is good for exp efi. I don’t mind the busy look it gives under the hood. You will have support from the forum on any one you choose.
