Man I HAVE to stop coming on this site!!!! I was poking around and read a thread about bronco campers that got me thinking.
Here's the deal. I am in the process of finishing a 32' gooseneck toy hauler/camper that we will be using to move to AK. Once we get there it will be finished into more of a long term camper, running water, stove, heater etc. Will work great for trailhead camping of when hauling sleds up north to go snowmobiling or using 4wheelers. Prob is, I want to do alot of exploring/panning for gold, etc. Alot of the trails I'm seeing up there are 30-40 miles long. Lots of guys wheel in, camp, then wheel out. I'm not to big on sleeping on the ground in a tent after damn near getting drowned during a huge storm that blew up on us while camping in the UK. Say nothing of 500lb grizzles that might want an easy snack in the middle of the night.
I've also decided that the bronco will be more of an exploration rig rather than a straight wheeler.
So I'm thinking of building a semi permanent camper on the bronco. Would need to re do the bed tank and move the shock hoops back under the truck. Thinking of a 23 gal tank in the back and a custom 6" tank that goes under the floor of the camper, basically cover the whole bed floor.
As far as size goes, I'm thinking sleep 2 comfortably, 3-4 uncomfortably. Strictly a one nighter, ruff camping, a dry bed and a light/heater. Here's some pics:
Basic shape, I know my paint skills are AWESOME!!
Black shaded area is the sleeper, green would be seats, towards the back would be open for dogs, gear, etc.
Layout, thick black is roll cage, blue is 1x1 sq tubing. Prob design it so 2-3 people could ride back there if needed.
Upper layout, sleeping area on both sides, open in the middle for access. Wouldnt be spacious by any means, prob 2' tall at the tallest point in sleeping area.
