Question about insurance...

It's been my experience that if you call Hagerty, or most others out there, and ask the same questions to 5 different people you will get 4 1/2 different answers. If the person you talk to is willing to accept the vehicle, its covered. Unless there is actual writing in the policy that would exclude your type of customization. The policies that I write will cover your rig without question once the policy is issued. It's getting it issued that's the issue. The only hang up is if the damage is as a result of a competition (rock crawling, mud bogs, etc.) they could denie the claim. I second the idea of reading your policy and if you have any questions call your agent or the company. Like it was said before you get what you pay for.

In response to 72_EB's question I'd start with all the normal companies in your area. Be upfront with the agent & tell them what you want. They will either just say NO or will be willing to take a closer look at your rig. The more modififications you've done the harder it's going to be to get decent coverage at a price you can afford.

Indian Harbour Bch,

If this helps, I just finished a frame off on my 1971. I had it appraised and was provided an itemized 3 page write up of all the upgrades and a description of overall condition and market value. This also included about 2 dozen photos from every angle. They even put it up on a lift to do pictures from below. It is being insured by Haggerty classic car insurance for $185/year. This will pay $18.5k replacement value with zero deductible.

This is just a fraction of what my normal Allstate policy would have run. I don't know if Haggerty would insure something that was a daily driver though.

Good luck,

Note, I applied for a Hagerty Insurance policy and they denied me because they said my piece was too modified.

I have my EB as on my Allstate policy as a second car with only a few thousand miles a year. It costs me 435 bucks every 6 months, and I live in NY, so Cali may be similar. I had my junk appraised for 12K
