question for tire/wheel gurus

NOt often I ask a question but this one has me going
I have a chance to get (cheap of course) a set of new wagon wheels in 16x8 size. I also have a dealer who will give me a "unforgettable deal" on a set of Michelin 235/85x16 LT ltx AS tires.
The question is, will the tires fit correctly on these wheels or are they going to have issues with the wheels being so wide??

I am definitely no guru but I have used a lot of tire combos. Those look to be 9.25 wide, should be just fine on an 8" rim. From my research it seems a lot of newer radials call for a decently wide rim fairly close to what the tire width is.

I have that size tire on a 16x7" wide rim and it looks like it would fit on a slightly wider rim no problem. The tread measures exactly 7" wide from outside lug to outside lug. Can e-mail a picture if you like.

What are they going on? You realize that most 235/85/16 are D or E load rated right? That heavy of a load rating on an early bronco is probably not going to ride real good.

To the gentlemen with the "pink and pretty" Bronco (which I still like BTW) Thanks for the info, to bad you didn't win the draw!!
To the toolman pictures are nice!! walker@agt.net is the address.
To brewchief, yep I realize the load rating but I like the height to width ratio a lot and am willing to make sacrifices to get that tire height and width.
Anyone else?? haven't heard from you tire shop workers yet?
Anyone a service person in a tire store?? lets hear from you.

The tires will fit fine. As Tito said they are 9.25" wide so it would be about the equivalent of putting a 30 x 9.50 on a 15 x 8" wheel. Your tire's sidewall height form the wheel is 85% of 9.25, or 7.86". If you add the sidewall height (2 times) plus the 16" wheel diameter you have a 31.72" tall tire. The perecte size wheel would be 7" wide but there won't be any issues with an 8" wheel. 6 years at Goodyear taught me a little.

Pictures are in the e-mail.

I have been thinking about using this size for my bronco project but I would need to find some original 16" wheels. I think they look perfect on a slightly lifted uncut.
