I have some type of header with summit turbo mufflers.

I would really like more of a stock sound.
Would swapping out the mufflers for some type of OEM replacement quiet it down?

What % of the exhaust sound is from the headers v.s. the muffler?

Most of the sound is from the muffler.

I will get some pictures. What I neglected to mention is that I am using part of Hooker exhaust kit from Summit. The section between the header and muffler is flex pipe. I wanted to make sure I liked the sound before I had that section of pipe made. I could not make the pipe that came with the kit fit.

So it goes from header to flex pipe to muffler to tailpipe and out the sides behind the tires.

I am trying to remember where in mass your from

I found a new exhaust shop here in burlington. They did some great work on my lightning the other day.

Replace a X pipe that someone else made for me a few years ago that fell apart. I now have a custon H pipe out of 14 guage stainless. They even switched the wire on the welder to stainless which was a nice touch

Another thing that will really change the sound is where your tailpipe ends. It will be quieter if it go outside the body as opposed to down turning it under your rig.
