Radius arm/ C cap bolts

Hello,

I am in the process of re-installing the front suspension on my bronco. I would like to replace the hardware that attaches the C-caps to the radius arms. I want to replace with the right bolts. I found this thread:

http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1871218&highlight=radius+arm+bolt#post1871218

It talks about the size of the bolts and suggests that bolts from a hardware store do not have enough thread to have the bolt seat properly and that you need to get them from a bronco supplier. I have been searching and I can't find them for sale. Someone in the above thread said they got theirs from JBG, but I called them and the guy on the phone said that they did not have them. I checked some other sites, but I can't find them. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help.

I havent checked but would guess that you could get the correct bolts through a hardware supplier like Fastenal, you may have to pay abit for them, but you may find what you are looking for.

I would take an old one to Ace Hardware. You'll be surprised at the grade 8 selection they carry.
Very true. I just (a week ago) got done installing some 7° c-bushings and found replacement Grade8 bolts at Ace. A little more expensive there than other places, but Ace is 1/4 mile from the house. I also got 2 longer bolts to help pull the c's together, until I can get the new (shorter) bolts started.

I went to fastenal. IIRC they were an oddball 9/16". I ended up going with full thread socket head cap screws. Was about $15 I think. Socket head caps are stronger than Grade 8.

That's my photo in the thread you linked. I hope you have better luck at your Ace hardware than i did at mine. I spent an afternoon driving to every Big Box store and Hardware store I could find looking for the correct bolts without any luck. You can always add a few washers like bknbronco said or at least until you can find the correct bolts. I did eventually get some new bolts for mine but I had to order them from a fastener store. I originally pointed this out because I tried to do the same thing replacing the fasteners and didn't figure out the problem until I tried to bolt on the spring cup. When I broke a bolt on my 66, I used the hardware store bolt and ran it in a die to lengthen the threads. Probably not ideal but it has worked fine for me.
