Seems like these days the rarest one is the one you own. But I want one uncut.

I love seeing these pics of sweet ones you guys are posting!

Thank you guys. It cost a pretty penny but I doubt if I could have built it for that. Plus the low mileage is worth a lot.

Can't build true originality, that's how I look at it and that's what I've grown to appreciate more.

U152

I saw a mention of U152s in an earlier post. I just picked up a ‘70 U152 Sport. Anyone know about the numbers and rarity of that?

Franko, are you thinking of this one? Looks like 50K original miles. I believe one repaint but all original. Some lady owned it. Can't remember the stats or origin. Tim

I think she should let Dennis Carpenter borrow those oatmeal mats, make a mold from them and start reproducing them!!!

I wish someone would kick down the $$ to get those reproduced. I've heard estimates of $20k-$30k investment from two different companies to get the tooling etc. done.

Hey Bird Dog. Welcome!
I don't think it's rare. The "2" simply denotes that it's a wagon (the "U15" part) with the heavy duty suspension option. At least that's what I think it means. I'm not a VIN-guru by any means, but I believe that simply means you got the stiffer springs, bigger brakes, bigger rear wheel bearings, and maybe another thing or two.

So while it might not be rare for any particular year, it's definitely more desirable!
While the springs usually get upgraded to modern ones that ride better on the street, the big brakes and bearings are a gift that keeps on giving.
Just don't let those rear wheel bearings go un-changed though. Don't wait for a rear tire to pass you on the highway. If you do not know the mileage, or whether they have every been changed at all, you might consider changing them out just because.
At the very least inspect them while you're inspecting the rear brakes and changing the rear diff oil.

If'n I'm wrong on any of the meaning of the 152, I'm sure someone will correct that info.

There were U132 and U142s also. It's just an HD package, with bigger bearings, different springs etc. like Paul said.

Sorry guys. I’m trying to figure out this picture thing. I hate to admit I’m an idiot

I might have some history on your bronco. Can you confirm if your vin tag on the glove box reads "C" or "G" for the transmission. If its a "C" I can give you the full story.
