This is part of the reason you do this crazy stuff to a Bronco!
We both needed new phones because they were antique by today's cell phone standards..(my wife had a 4s!), so we took a ride in Rattler to the Verizon store in Anniston which is about 25 miles away, and then we had planned on getting diner out because of Mother's Day. We were in the phone store for probably two hours or more, and while we were setting at the sales guy's desk, he looked up and told me, "Hey, a guy behind you wants to talk to you."
The sales guy's desk was facing the window and he saw us drive up in Rattler and then later he sees this guy pull in and look all over the Bronco. The guy then comes in and starts asking people in the store "Who's is it?" When I look over my shoulder and see the guy, he immediately says "How much is it?" ... I'm kinda shocked... For Sale???..
He's a young guy in a nice new SUV parked right behind Rattler and I explain that just because they are old, they ain't cheap.... He nods and says that he loves them and is up to date on the prices and wants to know a number. I try to explain that Rattler isn't "just and old Bronco" and it isn't really for sale.. "50K... 60K?"..he says.. no... Really, it's not for sale.." OK"..he says and leaves.
We leave about an hour later and head south on Quintard Ave which is a 4 lane with a center turn lane. A few blocks later, some import is right on my bumper and I'm in the right lane. After a few more blocks, the road changes to a 6 lane with a landscaped median and this young punk jumps from my bumper to the right lane and starts to shoot around me. The light changes from green to red and we stop at the light. I look over and he is a cool dude looking my way with that look like 'get out of my way old man'.... The light changes and he takes off like he's running late...he's got it nailed... and I couldn't help myself. I just had to let old Rattler eat his lunch while the Cleveland blasted by him! My wife is screaming..."What are you doing???...You are going to get a Ticket!!!.....
At least he got to hear the sound of real power over his rice burner and saw 33.1250's spinning past him as we went to second and he was a half a block behind.
Several blocks later the light went to red again and I didn't even look right anymore as he pulled up again to our right. I just slowly eased off with traffic and the young dude disappeared somewhere in traffic.
I didn't say a word through the whole deal, but at the next light, I just looked at her and grinned!
