Rear bed over or under?

So oddly enough I was looking at my two beat up old bronco bodies the other day as I am in the midst of completely rebuilding the body on one of them. The one I m rebuilding had the rear bed section welded underneath the front floor section. I drilled out many spot welds to separate the two and was figuring that I would assemble the new body panes the same way. All was fine until I looked at the body of the other bronco I have in my shop and it clearly has the rear bed section over top of the front floor, and factory spot welds again. Is one of these a late Friday afternoon build or something? Or was there a time when they changed the assembly? My current project is a 74 and the other body is a 71. if that makes any difference.

On my 72, the the bed section is under the front floor section but the filler panels in front of the inner wheel wells are over the front floor section.

Thanks Scoop. That’s interesting as my filler panels on my 74 were over as well and bed under.
