is the rear transmission seal very hard to change on the C4? doesn't look too bad, any tips. I suppose it is what is causing tranny fluid to fill up the t-case

I like pulling the adapter off with the transfer case, that way the spud shaft stays with the transfer case and you don't loose the input shaft roller bearings. I buy the gasket and the seal. Seal part #8524, Adapter housing gasket part #8381 from WildHorses.

lol done removed the rear output shaft and 13 roller bearings everywhere;D I am replacing the t-case with another d20 so I needed to remove both shafts. I have a new gasket kit for the t-case coming.
so there is a snap ring that will need to come out too?

Yup, you'll have to remove the shaft from the bearing retainer, the seal is inside.

Two rings. One holds the drive gear on to the spud (this one is a bear) and the other holds the bearing into the cone. The seal is underneath all that.

Wild Horses is the only supplier who carries the correct double lip seal. The local parts stores part numbers cross references to the wrong part, I spent a weekend going to all the part stores and found this out. I ordered from a unnamed bronco supplier and got a bad seal. When you can push the seal into the retainer with your thumbs and the seal spins in the housing that is a bad seal

does that kit come with the seal? I don't see the individual parts listed on their site.

They sell the seal separately. The seal is in the transfer case section of Drivetrain. Just put those part #'s in their search box, they'll come up.
