The threaded stud on one of them broke off. Is total replacement the only way to do this?

If you have room to work in there with a welder its the best way. I have a 1" BL so I usually have plenty of room for things like that. I welded on a set of thm double shock mounts in the forward position and there really nice and simple. I have heard of guys welding a bolt on there, or even drilling and tapping it for a bolt to go the other way on, but id sawsall it off and grind the frame clean and weld on a complete new part if it were me.
