The paint on my 77 is super thin and can't stand too many more polishes of any kind.
I have been using a spray on ceramic coating on all my cars that lasts about two years then you have to apply a new coat. For my newer cars with clear coat, I do a deep clean and very light polish before applying the ceramic.

you can also get a longer life version of it but they aren't permanent
On my 77, I did a very light polish using their all in one https://adamspolishes.com/products/adam-s-one-step-polish-8oz?_pos=2&_psq=one+step+&_ss=e&_v=1.0 and then the ceramic. This doesn't take hardly any paint off.
On my 78 #patinafreewheeler I have coated it twice so far. When I notice it getting dull and not repelling water / dirt as well, I wash it very well, all in one polish and then apply another coat which seems to work very well.
