I don’t suppose there is an easy way to remove old peeling coating in the engine bay / frame applied by previous owner. I’m not looking to pull the engine or body off.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way. I used brush on paint stripper and let it sit for about 30 minutes. A putty knife worked fairly well to scrape it off. It’s gonna be a bear to get to some of the tight spots. I wish there was an easier way…

Pressure washer, maybe a steam cleaner. I've seen them remove some pretty crusty stuff.
Not sure if the laser cleaner will work or not.

The rust showing through is another thing that will need to be addressed.

Thanks. I have watched several dry ice blasting videos. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone within 250 miles of me that offers it. I figured it would do a good job in the areas where things are peeling and flaking. I wonder how it would do in the areas where the coating appears intact. I guess it’s worth a trip next spring to see what can be done

The more I look at it, it looks like the peeling coating has more to do with the prep under the coating failing and allowing rust to lift the coating. If there are places where the coating is done well, and it is a good coating, it might get tough to remove.
