on hot days doing trial riding I'll pull the glass, its difficult to lay my windshield down. its nice just having the dust pass through rather than gathering behind the windshield. The breeze is nice as well.

Got Lucky

Hey Paul. I got kind of lucky I think. I cut down my new knob and grinded it to get it to just touch what's left of the broke-off knob bolt up in there. Then I built-up that knob with some tape to get it to grab at the dash hole for extra support. Then things got weird and lucky. That old knob must have broke off deep enough that I was able to grab about a thread and a half and that damn thing seems to be locked on pretty tight. If it rattles loose, which is a good possibility I think I will go with that JB Weld you are recommending and then see if I can get that thing to grab again with the glue in place. Even my little duck tape job at the dash holds the thing pretty tight. It is a damn good first try anyway. I will update you on how it holds. This really takes the pressure off me for a while. No more worrying about how terrible tackling the knob / windshield issue would be. That project can wait until my kids are out of the house or I retire some day. Thanks Man!

Great luck! And good karma too I'd say.
I couldn't help but read your post, while in my head I'm hearing Peter Sellers speaking in a German accent while smoking a cigarette and talking about the nuclear winter that was just avoided by your successful first attempt?
All while fighting his prosthetic hand with a mind of it's own.%)

Ha Ha. Next time picture Inspector Clouseau which would be a more accurate representation. My Bronco represents Cato! I might have to change that avatar!!
