How do i remove the windshield wiper arms from the window frame. I'm afraid I'm gonna break something if I just pry them off. Is that the actual way they come off, with elbow grease?

Pics are always good for a dim wit like me.

thanks,

There is a spring steel catch that hooks under the wiper pivot. You need to pry that out of the way, then jiggle the wiper arm off the pivot.

Yes that little bitty clip need to be pried out of the way then 2 larger screw drivers to walk it off the spline.. They can be stubborn .

if you pull the wiper arm up to its max flex in the up position, take a screw driver or what ever and gently pry up on the opposite side of where arm bends and apply pressure while moving wiper arm from normal position to the flexed up position. it will pop right off. hope this makes sense. cant think of how else to explain it !!

Thanks guys I'll give you an update tonight. I really appreciate the info. I was lost when it didn't come off immediately.

Just updating this for future searches...

I replaced my wiper arms today with the flip-forward wiper arms and blades from Wild Horses. To get the original arms off, I followed the process recommended above. I did not have to mess with the catch/clip referenced by other members. The first arm took me a minute or two as I worked to finesse it. Once I figured it out, the second arm came off in 10 seconds.

I have a wiper arm tool that works sweet for that. You can pull nice and gentle right off the post. No twisting or prying! Makes adjusting on them splines a simple operation! Think maybe i got it from JC Whitney.

you can always just stand up on the hood, bend down and give it a 2 handed grab yang for all you're worth ... don't forget the "hey ya'll watch this" before... ;)
let us know when it shows up on youtube..

or prying up on the bottom like discribed above works too, but nowhere near as exciting to watch..
