How would you know if a "solid top gasket " was used? Would that be a good or bad thing?

While you might be able to see looking in the bowl vent the top of the carb coming off is the best way.

The bottom of the air filter has a deep reces. I tried to take the best pictures I could with the air filter housing on of the (arm) circled. To the best I can tell it doesn't look like it touches.
