Just this week i have taken over 200 pics, alot of before pics, will be adding the after pics to them, matching them up and posting. Looking like middle of Jan the body will be mated to the frame.

Today is the final day of my Bronco week, shop clean up mostly as we made a huge mess. What was accomplished.
Pulled tub from donor
mounted tub to spare frame
removed PO installed floorboards
removed rockers inner and outer
removed front door posts
made a few patch panels for the driver and pass. kick panel
fabricated inner rockers
installed patches, and inner rockers
installed NOS door front posts
installed NOS rockers
repaired a few small holes in strikers
repaired body support under front of pass. seat
removed old windshield hinge
removed quarter panels

Now I am not going for a show peice, a budgeet build that it is going to be a DD/Weekend stomper, that is why we made a few patches instead of buying new, seems silly to replace a whole panel because of a few small bad areas.
Next up is remove remnants of the quarters, repair a few places in the floors, repair rear Taillight housing. After that it is off to the blaster. when we get it back primer and bedliner on the underside, install quarters. and mate it to the chassis. Fun times for sure.
And just to keep Bax satisfied..

Well Bronco week 2009 has ended. Alot was accomplished, yet still plenty of work to go. For the most part the hard stuff has been done, the door openings, the rest is gravy.
After long talks we are looking at the end of January for Chipper to be rolling down the road under her own power, once completed the name will be legaly changed from Chipper to something else, just not sure what yet.

Left to complete.
This week some of the smaller areas that need repairs will be done.
Next weekend I will be completing the removal of the remainder of the quarter panels, then off to the blaster she goes. Then she will be sporting Primer.

Next we will be installing the SS floor pans, spraying the underside with bedliner, installing the new Quarter panels, flipping her over and mounting the tub to MY frame.

Fabricate the new fender supports, hang the fenders, install windshield, hood and inner fenders. Weld up the SS fuel tank, Wiring is next, finish up the brakes, wiring and take her for a test drive. Can you tell I am getting excited?

Flipped

We completed the rotisserie and have rolled the body on its lid to access the bottom side. We will be altering the body stiffener that will interfere with the NP 435 shifter tower, replacing the firewall to just behind the front seats with panels we are fabricating. Material will be disclosed when completed. All in all progress is moving along FAST now. Cannot wait to be "CRUISING" down the roads.

Well Bronco Days 2010 are moving rather quickly. Got all the rust exumed, new floorboars are fabricated. Tub, or should i say what remains is off to the Blaster on Friday. Starting Mondya there will be no more cutting off except the rear quarters for flares. Once the floors are in i will post a pic or 12 to see what kind of drooling I can get.

Got to test fit some of the pieces we fabricated today, fit was great, and looks even better. Have a little welding and grinding to do tomorrow then we are loading what is left of the tub on a trailer to take to the Blaster on Monday. Will be posting pics (of the Bronco this time) next Friday. It is going to be awesome!

So This is my last post on taking the body apart. Monday at 9 A.M. the remnants of the tub will be getting blasted, Monday afternoon, she will be in primer.

And Tuesday the real stretch run begins. Spray the hard to reach areas with bedliner, Install new floors (Firewall to tailgate), All were fabricated, not that silly store bought stuff.
Install rear quarters, spray the underside steel parts with bedliner, sit and stare at it a bit, then gonna bolt that sucker to the frame. We are looking to have the body mounted, and front fender/grill mounting locations fabricated, not using a core support/inner fender to mount them, within the next 2 weeks. she is moving fast now, Amazing how much you can get done when you are not interrupted by something silly like work.

What a day, No longer is my tub multi colored, took it all down to bare metal, made a few reapirs, and now she is Rose Etch Primer. All one color. Now the fun begins, put her back together, one piece at a time.

The floors will start going in on Monday as I have to head to the metal shop to get 2 more panels made. OH Boy, i am getting excited now!

Dont spray any bed liner material over the etching primer.

Sounds like Bax knows from experience. Did you use an Acid Etch or a Chemical etch? So exactly what happens? does it make AOD's go bad or something?

The plan is to shoot some good rust inhibiting primer over the etch, then the bedliner.
