have a donor car with a great running motor,(89 linc, 5.0, low miles), planning on the factory harness, already have the flywheel i need to go to my trans, so basicly it is the wiring part I am backing away from. It is coming into summer, nothing better then a bronco in the summer but I would love also to have an EFI bronco to play in come summer time. Anyone that has been here, estimated time to do this having a bunch of time to work on it...? would love some input. thanks.

you are probably going to have a real good time getting the harness out of the other car, then there are going to be alot of connections you dont need. Get your research done from this site, get all your parts in order, then get going. you can do what I did, I bought a 91 mustang donor, great car, took what I needed, then sold the car chassis. I am going to use the cash from the stang and buy a new harness and the EFI tank from BCB. sure its a GRAND in cash but, I want mine done quick too, and right. i started mine 9 months ago but i ran into a few problems, not with the swap, so I just started again about a month ago. I figure I will be running in 2 or 3 more weeks. but I am also doing 2 broncos rght now. not both efi but if you are consistant and do at least one thing a day, It will get done faster than you think!! Good luck

A guy out here did his in a weekend! Granted, he did his research and collected all the parts. I'm waiting to do mine as well. Once I get my GT-40 heads cleaned up and ready to bolt on it's game time. Got all the parts including the RJM harness so it should be real quick and straight forward...

read the threads from here, read RJM's site, ford fuel injection, also sbf tech is great. I never attempted something as 'big' as my EFI swap-its intimidating but there are plenty of guys here who have been there and are always providing great advice, viperwolf, danwheeler(great thread btw), broncobowsher, 70eb, etc, etc....i basically bought alot of parts on ebay, explorer u/l, mustang efi VC, explorer TB, MAF, reman crown vic dizzy, did spend some $ on bcb tank and rjm harness(well worth it, rjm's harness is a masterpiece very easy to plug in) I did mine about 15 hours total.....I ran into some idle surge issues-but finally got solved, awesome to drive....goodluck if u need anything ask, i have extra parts

kinda thinking that I just sit on my parts car, spend the summer doing nothing but searching/saving some cash for the unexpected and start in the rainy season, after all, I do live in oregon. I have helped on a efi bronco build before, but the diff was the guy had all the money in the world and started with a ron francis plkug and play harness, not hte factory and trying to make it work.

You will learn by doing it as many have. I'm still learning and did mine back in 04 leaving some wires undone because I didn't know what to do with them. Just try and many here are there to help along the way.

I did it in two weekends and didn't work hard at it with the factory wiring. My biggest problem was the 87 mustang harness. I am fine with SD so I just figured I would run the 87 harness. I used my 71 engine and just changed out the intake. I spent the first saturday swapping out the intake and putting the engine harness on. It isn't hard, hook it uo to eerything you know you need like injectors and sensors and strip out the pollution stuff and AC etc. So by the end of the first day the engine was dresses and the engine harness was in place to the 10 pin connectors. I spent the first Sunday wiring all of the resitors and stuff into the harnes to fool the computer into thing the equipment was active and stripping out the wires I had removed from the engine harness all the way out of the harness if they didn't go to the computer they were out.

I spent the next week after work working on the fuel system, which I think is the worst part of the conversion.

I also spent some time with a pinout diagram making sure I had everything figured out. I started it fo rthe first time the next Saturday before lunch but I had a lot of lose ends to clean up. Relays werent mounted computer laying in the floor. Started it let it idle 30 minutes or so then took it out for a drive. Drove it till after dark saturday, then Sunday I finished up the loose ends.

Didn't work that hard at it either, I believe it could easily be done in a weekend. You can take the harness and label everything in the house while you watch TV the week before you start and just make yourself a harness.

It was my first ford and my 4th efi conversion, all before were chevy TPIs on SB Chevy engines. I have done one about every five years since 1989.

That first one in 1989 was really tough because there was no information on the transplants back then. It was an 87 Camaro tpi engine transplanted into my 55 belaire. I just yanked the whole thing out of the camaro tranmission and all and put it in the bellaire. Turned out really simple too. We were all surprised at how easy it was when I got it finished. Just marked every loose end as I pulled it from the camaro. I never even srtripped that harness just cut the wires at the harness cover abd tucked them in. :)

One thing to check on that Lincoln donor car....I used a 5.0 out of a Merc(same thing)...

if it has the double serp belt setup, serp belts with out idlers, one belt to the AC/Therma-thingy pump, and the other to the alt/PS. Alt/PS on the Driverside, you will want to change the entire front dress, that setup leaves no room between the water pump and the radiator.
