Thanks. Yeah those look better and the placement is perfect in that pic!
Yeah, there ya' are Scoop, didn't build that shop big enough did ya'!!!!%)%)
I wqorked on the rear bumper today. Got it narrowed 1 1/2" per side, shaved, smoothed the upper bolts and filled the center holes.

Here it is on with the welds ground down.

No bolt heads!!

I know 1 1/2 inches per side does not seem like much, but even this small amount improves the looks in my opinion. A thin coat of filler and paint will finish it off!
I had some 4 inch LED driving lights I was going to use on another project so I mounted them up on the Cactus Smasher to see what they would look like.

Not period correct that's for sure! I don't think I like them. It really needs some round Cibies to look right. Your thoughts??
Looks great! Curious how you smoothed out the rear bolt heads though. I like the clean look!
Pretty easy actually. I cut off a 1/2" bolt to the length I wanted and then held it in place through the square hole in the bumper and flush with the top of the bumper. Then just welded from the top and ground smooth. I would not mount a trailer hitch to the bumper but it's plenty strong enough to hold the beer on. I did not smooth the lower holes. The bumper mounts by starting the top bolts at an angle in at the top, dropping them in and then rotating the bottom of the the bumper under the frame horn. I needed to wallow out the top holes in the frame horn slightly to get it to drop in. I'll try to get some pics when I take the bumper off to paint it.

I gotcha. Makes sense now. Wasn't sure how you were able to get it on there but wallowing the holes out makes sense. I like the narrowed bumpers! Definately makes a cleaner look.
Well Thanks!!
(I think.)
Now that the top is "done" (!) it's time to move on to a few repairs to the body. First up is repair to the bed rails where a PO had cut them for some unimaginable reason?? Not sure why they would have done this??
Both sides are cut like this over the wheel wells.

One side has this hole blown into it with a torch!

Even though I am leaving this Bronco in patina for now I want to repair all the places in the body that need some work - these hacks plus some minor rust on the rockers, floorboards and tailgate and fill some holes where the mirrors and antenna were mounted. So in the future I can, or a future owner can, do some easy body prep and give it a nice paint job.
