Sealing dipstick and PVC & oil fill access "better"! Prevent sand getting where it shouldn't be. Thx

Is it just me? Because I do things like play in the sand a lot and sand is everywhere.I'll include a pick, so you believe what i'm saying....

Is there a better way of (edit: dang auto correct- I have to correct it 3x every post- yes I can spell "sealing" lol) "ceiling" Ford Racing valve covers and the dipstick tube (at the top, not the pan).

Dipstick, first I have the umbrella shield. Type, but I still don't think it seals that well, I put a spark plug boot over the dipstick tube so my dipstick, "handle", let's call it slides down and butts up against it, and the insulation on the tube helps with any stray spark issues since my plug wire boot is right there.

also I have not found a better way to seal my pcv valve, and my oil fill port on my Ford. Racing cast aluminum valve covers. Anybody have a source or ideas? Thank you.

I want to do it right so I don't have to worry about sand.

Do you know anyone mechanical that was involved with Operation Desert Sand. They may be able to tell you what the military did.

That sand shot looks like something out of a movie. Where do you find that much terrain, sand and evergreen trees in the same location

I went valve cover #10 bungs, TIG welded, to catch cans
Dipstick looks pretty good, can you take some adhesive lined heat shrink and go from 3/4" above bell to lower bell cover just to make sure the top section is sealed?

Don't need it today but if you've got the hood up in the future could you send me a pic of the bungs? Mine are not tight as in they don't take a lot of wiggling and pressing to pop the PCV or filler tube into place. I eliminated my catch can when I went back to a 4 bolt TB. Just doesn't seem to be an issue again as it was with the more traditional 85mm TB style.

Something like this below then find an inline pcv valve that can be clamped to keep it secure for the pcv and just "T" into the other for vacuum and for filling with oil.

Good idea. Sand was on the Oregon dunes which the dang Greenies haven't closed yet. They are closing everything around my Valley in WA. Heck, not going political but hydroelectric dams which used to be able to supply our entire State with electricity is considered "dirty power". It does not qualify as "green energy" in our State. Anyway, keep working to try to keep access to the sand dunes, hills and other outdoor areas for your kids and grandkids. We don't wamt our kids to have to watch "Soylent Green" to see what an animal looks like.

Toyota Camry had thread in PCV valves somewhere around 2008 or newer maybe other applications fwiw
Perfect, thanks as that would be ideal & a clean look. I'll do some checking.

I called a buddy today that was stationed over there. He said the Army hired a bunch of Privates with toothbrushes to scrub all the sand off after every mission! lol He also said they bought filters by the carrier load and changed oil and lubed religiously. All that being said he said they didn't do much of anything special. Guess that means if they blew something up they just bought new...

Next, I called a friend that works/pits and rides with Solo Motorsports Norra 1,000 and he said... "AN fittings".

Guess I get to try some new stuff. :) thanks all.
