Given the fitment issues I have experienced with shorties and the 4R70W bell housing/dipstick tube/cooling lines I won't install them anymore.
I'll stay with the cast-iron manifolds, including the Explorer manifolds for P-heads.

If heat is a problem, it was for me, wrap the exhaust pipe after the header. I can basically put my fingers on the tube right after shutdown, albeit for a few seconds.

So the Explorer manifolds line up for use in the EB just fine?

Short answer is yes, not a fan of the 1996 tubular exh manifolds, prefer the cast iron ones from the later motors. (With the GT40 heads, you can reuse the factory Bronco manifolds.) Replacements (Dorman > offshore) can be found on Rock Auto. You need, I believe it is, a 22mm drain plug to fill the EGR port...

The Sandersons were always bolt on without any issues and no potential frame interference issues... maybe it's the Mustang shorties that Bronco owners are having trouble with on the PS??? Don't know. I do remember on a 4r install we had to tweak the dipstick a little. Then it was fine.

Same with hooker headers I run that are not mustang specific. The dipstick had to be tweaked but worked fine on the old 5.0 and now on the 351w.

What product/brand did you use?

I'm thinking of wrapping (putting a blanket) around my mufflers.

Just let more heat go farther back b4 it's released... help when when crawling when heat comes up from under the tube doors.

Course I could buy a Gen 6 & pwr the dark tinted windows up tight & turn up the AC! :) then crack them down an inch to ask how close is the pass 1/4 to the jagged rock? lol. :)

I think only one person here is using the Dorman hi-po 289 cast manifolds. Anyone else driving with them yet?

Did that 20+ years ago. I liked them. Trying to remember all the details. I know I posted them here when I first did it.
Few things I remember were that they were really easy to port match to the trick flow heads. The passenger side (with 351) lined up with the frame rail, could have gone either way but I ran it outside the frame as I was running a single muffler under the passenger seat. Can't remember it the driver's side would work with clutch linkage or not, I was running an automatic.

Paul, I sold that Bronco back in 2010. I can only date it because I know I did it at my first house that I sold in 2006.
