Speedo Gear on Output Shaft?

Hey guys, can anybody tell me which way the speedo gear goes on the output shaft? I've searched everywhere and can't find the solution. Thanks!!!!

If you have the metal gear then it's the same on both sides. You may have a metal/plastic gear. It should also be the same on both sides. If the plastic gear is off set to one side chuck it and find another. So what's the deal?
