While in college and living up to the whole "struggling college student" persona, I went through a '79 Bronco, '69 Bronco and co-purchased a '67 'Stang with my youngest sister.

We purchased the Mustang from the original owner. She kept it stock, but then decided to park it and never could drive it after her surgery. Dad and I put alot of money and elbow grease to get it road worthy (atleast decent enough for my sister to drive to the local college and back). Then, in a matter of a few months after having it, she decides she wants a newer car. I could of kept it, but didn't want to have issues with her since it was still in the house. Sold it oversees to someone in Australia. He came, took pics, then shipped it in a container.

I tried the Bronco and Mustang thing for a while...just realized I'm not a Mustang guy. Also very few practical benefits an early Mustang out in the country, so I sold it and got a 75 F250 truck.

I think the 67 cougar was cool too. I had a budy of mine that had a gold with black top cougar in high school. It's just a dressed up pony. I would take one of those if I couldn't get another stang.

And the stang was just a rebodied Falcon.

Great job on the rebody though.

Ive never had a stang, wanted something different, stangs were a dime a dozen where I grew up,, so I had a
'66 Thunderbird w/428 cost $500
a '69 Thunderbird, w 429 Thunderjet cost $600
a '62 Mercury Meteor 4 door, w/ 221 v-8 & 3 on the tree, cost $275
a '63 Meteor 2 door, w/260 cost $250
a '69 Mercury Cyclone Cale Yaroborough edition w/ 351 Cost $250

and somewhere along the line I briefly had a mid '60s Comet, think it was free.

Cobra

The Bronco has seen many Mustangs come and go. But its got competition now since I built the Cobra.

I always wanted a Cobra. Traded a nice '66 shelby clone for one (mistake). The Cobra was cool - but I sold it and bought a boat and had funds left over to build my Bronco.

I love Mustangs but I concur! My experience with organized Mustang clubs and from being at Mustang events is that they are not nearly as friendly/accepting as Bronco people. To get any respect in the Mustang crowd you need a really nice original restored car. On the other hand most Bronco people appreciate ANY Bronco! ;D

Interesting, because when I said "I'm not a Mustang guy" I really meant that the thrill and interest in my 67 didn't last long. Not as long as Broncos have fired me up. BUT...I have to admit that I did feel a bit like you describe--I didn't get the same friendly vibe that the Bronco crowd seem to give. Plus I don't care much for any Mustangs after '74--I don't really think of them as "real" Mustangs--which makes me the same kind of snob. %)

I've had a couple......This is the '86 GT the day it left. I bought w/60k on it off a good friend that had it since new 120k miles, 5 spd, motor blew a head gasket a year after running it crackling hot in the middle of nowwhere trying to catch the last ferry to Ocrakoke on me and my wifes honeymoon, still have the block ready to go on the engine stand, all parts, master rebuild kit for tranny, new flywheel and clutch. My oldest boy said he wanted it, gave him a year and a half and he never touched it so sold it and the old homemade car trailer to make room for the Bronco Hauler project. Now my 16 yr old daughter said I should have given it to her and she would have put it together, and she would have!!! Next is the '69 Mach 1 with the sweet body that got modified by two trees during hurricain Isabel (Bitch!) waiting on a restore. It sat out ther for a while before we could cut our way to it.

We are taking the two Shelby's down to Investco this afternoon for a big front range car cruise. I will post pictures later.
