steering box hitting core support

Yes my steering box is hitting the core support. It used to clear in the mock up stages however with the 3'' body lift the very front of the box is hitting the bottom of the core support. Do I have to cut the 90 degree bend off of the support to let it clear? Or worse yet do I have the wrong box?
Help?

Thanks

The Broncos that I have seen that came from the factory with PS have a little square hole cut in the core support that is boxed in from the front side to allow more clearance for the round end of the steering box. I have a 74 box in my 72 and it hits on the core support since it doesn't have the little box.

If body to frame movement, body moving back, is part of the damaged radiator problem it may be wise not to mess with it. Just a guess on my part.

Kinda had the same problem, only it was clearance to the radiator. I loosened up all my body mounts, and pulled the body as far forward as it would go, then retightened the body mounts. I got a little over 1/4" extra clearance that way.

I have installed a body lift. the problem is in stock form the lip fits under the front of the steering box. But as it comes up the lip hits the box. I can cut it out of the way but I was just wondering if this is the standard thing that happens when you do a body lift. Never heard anyone mention this type of problem. It is a 68 and never had power steering.

I was able to grab that lip with a pair of pliars and bend it down and out of the way. Might give that a try before you start cutting.

OK so it is normal to have this problem. I am good with that.
Thanks

I just ran into that problem today when I hung my core radiator support and front sheemetal . I have a 71 body and a steering box from a 77 and it hit even with a 2 inch body lift . I also just cut two lines in the bottom lip and bent it upwards and it took care of it . ;D

I had to cut the lip off the core support on my '69 when I installed a stock power steering setup even without a body lift. I used to own a '74 with factory power steering, and while I never took it apart for a closer inspection, it sure looked like the cut out in the core support was molded in from the factory - almost as if Ford redesigned the core support to fit in the power steering boxes like they redesigned the wheel wells in '76/'77 to fit the power brake booster.
