Rebuild kits on rockauto are about 45$, if you can rebuild it yourself. My buddy is a retired box builder. I bring him a rebuild kit/box and 250 later it is done.

I've done it 8 years ago but I think this one need more than seals and soft parts now.
Also curious of the feel of the Delphi, borgeson and Tom's box? Do they have more modern valving? Better feel/feedback? Can they handle 33-35 inch tires better than stock box

I agree with nvrstck, the Toyota box is strong. Very common. They used them from 86 to 95 on every 4x4 truck and 4Runner. For obvious reasons I don't chat about Toyota's here, but I have a pretty extensive background with them. They work great and are real cheap. I sold one for $75 a few months ago. $125-150 all day long and people will give you a deal.

That being said, on my Bronco I bought a box and hose etc. from TBP a year ago. It works great and I am pretty happy with it. Totally changed how my Bronco drove.

I've rebuilt my power steering box and many manual boxes. The thing that will drive you nuts on the power steering box is putting the worm gear in and keeping all the ball bearings in place. It's not bad to do and for $45 for a rebuild kit through Rock Auto and a couple hours of work it isn't bad. I recommend cleaning the box in a parts washer before disassembly to get all the crud off.

Do all the balls come in the kits? Do the originals ever wear?
I would think that they would, especially after lots of use and the typical VERY extended intervals between cleaning/replacing the fluid, but I don't remember hearing much talk on the subject.
Weren't there even slightly larger diameters available?
