That is where I put mine. It seems backwards with regards to the buckle but I want the space between the seats for a console.

It does seem backwards but makes sense to do it that way so it doesnt hang out the door when you close it

I have never seen a car or truck seatbelt that did not retract on the door side.

My retractors are by the doors and the female buckle straps are in the center
