Streched Bronco

I am thining about stretching my rig so that I could fit a third row of seating in it.

Has anyone seen one, or does anyone have pictures of one? I am not looking for stretched out trail rigs. I am looking for a rig that has the area between the door and the rear wheel stretched.

I am not sure how much I would need to add. The additional length would be dictated by room for an additional seat, and also aesthetics.

Any thoughts, ideas, or pictures are appreciated.

OOOhhh, he painted it.
I'm working on the same thing right now(look at avatar). How good are your fab skills? How much do you got to spend? What condition is your truck in now?
How do you expect it to look when you're done (i.e. hard top, doors, yada- yada...)?

Here is Karl Bradley's which is stretched 12 inches right behind the stirker posts. Although this is obviously a trail rig, it would look just as awesome with less lift and, say 35's, and a little less radical wheel openings, as a mostly street rig. Love how he stretched the convertible top too.

Are you talking about something like this?

That thing is awesome, I love it with the door inserts, Madguyver needs to build one of those over in Hawaii to use as a real offroad tour vehicle!!!

broncow72, do you have any pics of your framework?

Nothing that shows the process. Just one on the link I posted.
I believe that blue one belongs to John Lizarraga. And once was orange w/ black flames.
I had seen it run @ truckhaven a few years back and it moves very well. He claims it's mostly stock drivetrain (ya, right). His actually gave me my inspiration. I just wanted to go in a slightly different direction...doors. After taking that avenue, I understand why he didn't.

As far as the frame work... I used 2 seperate frames and 2 tubs to graph together. There wasn't enough usable frame section for the full stretch, so I had to add a 14" section between the 2 halves. I used square steel tubing inserted into the frame with rosette welds and then used a 4'x2"x1/8" piece of flat bar to strap under the frame length wise. As I get started on the cage, I will tie it into the frame via body mounts to give a little extra stiffness to the chassis.

I've thought of it for awhile and I have all the parts to do it but I wouldn't have any parking space plus I think you tourist would rather drive one of my other EBs and follow me through the trails................;D

Here is some pics I saved..

Jim Cole stretched his 12". I don't think he added a 3rd row of seats but it provides the cargo room needed with a rear seat in. Ahhh crap, the photos are on my home computer. I'll get them up tonight. He cut the body/frame just behind the front seats pushed it back 12" filled in the frame and wraped the out side.

I ha d a chance to look Jim's over closely at SOB. He put tubing inside the frame and fisheyed the ends together. It isn't wrapped on the outside. It's actually almost identical to how we repaired my brothers frame last year on the 70 I gave him. (Search for the SecondChance buildup thread if your interested in that one) He only has one seat in the back but it extends from bed rail to bed rail. Don't recall what seat he used though. He runs the normal soft top and has a small area outside it in the back for storage. (A storage area behind the top)
