I was having C 4 transmission problems. Lowbush gave me a call and asked if I wanted help with it. I was pretty fed up with paying a transmission shop to do crap work and took him up on his offer. Together with another friend of mine we took the C4 completely apart. We were on a mission to find out what was wrong. We found the problem and put it back together. Looked at the time and it was 2 AM. Thats right Lowbush drove 40 miles to my house and spent 6 plus hours with me as he fixed my trans and put up with me asking all kinds of stupid questions. I tried to pay him for his time and he would hear non of that. So a great big thank you is in order, I learned a lot. It was super nice of him to do what he did.

I always figure if I want crap work I can do it myself and save the money, sometimes it even comes good.

That's awesome! This group is definitely the best there is, and I haven't met anyone yet.

PS, any details on what fixed your issue?

Yes this is a great group. The problem i was having was reverse was very weak and no high gear. The trans had ben rebuilt so all the clutches and seals were new. First off we found that the little plug that fits under a spring on the side of the filter was missing. " Converter fluid return" Valve body was working correctly , no stuck valves. front pump was good, servos were good, all seals were fine. clutch packs were new. Bands were good. I was kinds getting worried that we would not find the problem. Got all the way back to the governor and found that both slides in the governor were frozen. I had no clue what that meant but I was assured that it was a problem. As we went thru the parts we were shocked how much filth was in the assemblies. We cleaned up everything and reassembled. Finished up about 2:30 AM When I looked at the time I was shocked. No clue it was that late and I felt bad that I had kept my friends up all night. But in typical get r done fashion no one seemed to care. it is all closed up on a bench waiting for me to get out there and install it. I have to go to the parts store and get some fluid. Got to put some new in the converter first. Again, Super big thanks to both Ken and Rob for the help.

Amen to that! That is one of the reasons I joined here.

Rather frustrating to open up that tranny and find the crud in there. It really sucks when you pay good money for not so good work.

That's pretty freakin' awesome! Glad you got it working.

Usually when people are willing to help you out in a big way, it's because you're worth helping. :)

Yes Tasker it is. Not my Bronco It's one of my customers and it has to be right. Thats why it was so important for me to see what was wrong for myself. I'm not taking another c4 to a transmission shop. I will keep reading the books and watching the videos. I would rather learn how than throw that build money away.

They are easy to learn.

Throttle Pressure Limit Valve and spring: ATP Part # FX190 Available at RockAuto for just over $1. A 1/4" ball bearing will work in a pinch too.

In my defense my kids are in a play and my wife lives for that stuff, so they where out all night doing their thing and all my projects are on hold for one reason or another, most of them because something is in shipping. When I got there I told Roger that I had side motives and they where not to sit home board all night. I enjoyed it, but what I enjoyed most of all was the alarm going off at 6 AM and my wife remembering that she signed us up for a 3 mile walk-athon. Oh and I learned don't try to steal the truck with the best sound system or some dude will beat you bloody and sit on you until the cops arrive. Anyways I had a great time we will have to do it again.
