I have a 351 that I am having pulley problems with. the water pump lower hose is on the wrong side and the PS belt is not lining up. If I put a 302 balancer ( 3 bolt) and water pump on the 351 will a stock bronco pulley set up work?

Thanks
Bax

That is similar to the problem I was having on the Bronco I have now. The PO had everything so mismatched. I ended up changing the balancer, water pump and pulleys to solve my problem. So I would think that what your wanting to do should take care of your issues with belts lining up.

balancers are the same 20 OZ and I think the 302 water pump nose is shorter. So what I am thinking should work. Sounds like it worked for wildbill and broncosam. Thanks guys.

I had to shoot the timing with most everything off. Did not let the engine stay on long.

It'll work. Those old, small motors are all interchangeable. Make sure you move the timing pointer over to the correct side while you're down there.

There were no significant differences in the covers until serp systems started showing up. If the 351 cover is old it will be fine.

if you are using a pan dip stick you can plug the dip stick hole that in the timing cover. you can also use old timing mark's to set the new marks with just do that before you put the front pulley's an belts on, if the motor is out that's a good time to set the marks. vinson

May want to keep the 351 balancer and use the rest of the stuff off the 302. The water pumps are the same excepter for which side the inlet is. Use the 302 or pass side pump. For timing I used timing tape on the 351w 4 bolt balancer and wh sells a timing marker for the driver side. I bought a set of underdrive pulleys to get the 4-bolt balancer pulley matched with the rest.

Everything from the 302 will work timing chain cover out, and the flywheel /flexplate. You may have to get creative with the timing pointer, depending on which timing chain cover you currently have.
