yep plans change as always working on the new body. will decide later if i'm keeping the old body for a crawler or giving it to my brother we'll see. as for now i have to sort the suspension to put on when i swap the drivetrain over, the brake booster bracket since i'm goin from 76 to a 71, a new frame bracket for steering box, and front shock hoops. WCB stand by cuz i'll be calling ya soon.

ok so if being on deployment wasn't enough, but then having my truck in the hands of another guy to do bodywork and having two tubs including said one in previous post fall through. my truck will finally being to take shape before i get home. a suitable tub was found and is now on stands at his shop. work has started and i'm awaiting pics like a kid at xmas. for not upgrading anything this is goin to get expensive my current body and frame were a little rough after a few years of trail abuse so with a fresh 71 frame and a newly aquired body he is goin to paint frame, body, top, doors, etc and transfer everything accross. hopefully sell everything he doesn't need and i'm hoping to come out of it for close to 5k but we'll see if that happens, lol. i really just hope i come home to a nice rust free bronco i will only have to worry about mechanical shit on and not bodywork.

goin with a gunmetal grey, black top. i'm goin to get new black wheels and tires when i get home. should be a good looking truck. anyways let me know what you think on the cost aspect. think 5k-7k is reasonable? cheap? expensive? for all that work? i don't know what decent bodywork goes for these days.

I think $5k would be downright cheap especially if hes doing a tub swap. I guess it would depend on if/how much he can sell the other parts for.

Sounds very reasonable. Is he spraying underneath, engine compartment, inside, etc? If so along with a body swap that is cheap if it includes material and labor.

so nothing ever stays in budget looks like i will hopefully come in around 7800-8300 and that includes the new tub, doors, probably new fenders, grill, bodybushings etc. but that doesnt' include selling my old tub, frame, fiberglass fenders, grill, etc. hoping to have pictures soon, its been 11 days in the bodyshop so far have about 2 weeks left (crossing fingers)

another few months. truck will be faded by the time i get home. we are goin to ditch the old hood and put on a wild horses highlander. why not do it right the fist time. ugh all i hear is cha ching. when i started this bodywork project i was hoping to get it all done for about 5k i'll be almost double that, but it will be done right. still have a lot to do when i get home though, he's only doin bodywork i need to do a few more things when i get home.

fix leaking brake lines under MC
replace front rotors, calipers, and pads, bearings (have rotors and pads in my garage just need calipers and install)
replace rear brakes (drum)
get a back seat installed (corbeau to match front)- can't take the family anywhere in it at the moment.
get a new stereo installed, old one was good for a trail rig, but not for a dual purpose truck
Tuffy center console
install my ram assist (sitting in my garage)
Black wheels (or just paint current ones)
New tires
New dry cell battery
Aluminum radiator/ tranny cooler (keep temps down)

SOMEDAY:
Second gas tank
Protofab rear bumper/tire carrier
Rear disk brakes
Painless wiring harness/ EFI
Winch
New steering column
Billet steering column suround
Airconditioning
hydro boost
Air lockers/ on board air
4-link rear

but thats the point of these right? to give ya something to do? lol oh well love the damn thing. it will basically be a whole new truck
frame painted
new tub taken down to metal all rust fixed
new steel front fenders
new steel grill
doors
painted door inserts
top taken down to metal and painted
all new seals, body bushings
new flares
new hood

yep well past the point of no return, lol
