Anyone know what years fit the 76-77 EB's? Anyone here done this? I have the #3707 Disc/drum or disc/disc 1 1/8"
bore master cylinder system, $435.00

and we cannot get it dialed in. The pedal is too hard! The duff's kit is I believe a GM one.

Any help from someone who has done this would be appreciated! ;D

There are a variety of vehicles that used the "T-Bird calipers", but an easy one to remember is the '76 T-Bird.

And remember that you'll need different brake lines. Chuck sells a set of SS braided ones that work.

Hard Pedal

I went through the same thing on an earlier build. I went back and forth with James Duff trying different things including changing everything you can think of on the brakes with no improvement and them telling me they have never had a problem. I'm not an expect on brake systems, but did learn alot in the process. The 1 1/8 materscylinders orginally came on 3/4 & 1 ton trucks, etc. which have bigger calipers and require more volume and need the bigger bore master, but put it on stock broncos and sometimes you get the problem you and I have/had. You can only compress brake fluid so much with the small boosters on the Broncos so I had to go to a smaller bore mastercylinder to increase pressure on the system and also made the pedal softer. I think changing to the bigger calipers on the front would help use up some of the extra volume but how does it stop now with the hard pedal?

I just put on the t- bird calipers and drove it for the first time today. Brakes are a little soft so I'm going to bleed the brakes again. My Bronco is a '77 with disc/drum. I got my calipers from Advance auto, 76 T-bird w/400 v8 and the brake hoses are from Chuck. Overall my brakes seem better but I used my old pads.

What port on the GM MC are you using for the front discs?

worse than when it was just manual. Brake is very hard and when wheeling I literally have to use both feet if I need to stop on a steep hill.

autozone says $15 each side does that sound right? Seemed really cheap.

I think you are going to find that going to a smaller mastercylinder (like 7/8) will help your hard pedal problem and also increase system pressures for better braking. In this case bigger is not better unless you are running larger calipers. If yours is like the one I did the line pressure is only about 700 psi and you will need about 1200-1400 psi for good brakes. I'm not sure you have access to any thing to check line pressure, but sounds like the same problem I had.

The Bronco I did also had rear disc, nothing I did helped except going to a smaller mastercylinder. We changed boosters, distribution blocks, lines, and even put a 1 1/4" mastercylinder on with little if any change.

Used BC Broncos power brake kit on mine, works well. I orginally did the disk conversion with the stock mastercylinder, worked but required some effort to stop quickly. I'm running 35 x 12.50 tires so the drums just weren't gettin it done.

If you have a core to turn in that's about the price I've heard quite a few people pay.

what is a core charge for those babies?

Not really sure, but if you know that you are not going to use your stock calipers again, you can use those as cores. Most parts stores won't notice the different size pistons and all other dimensions of the calipers are the same.
