What I tell my wife is totally different from what I would tell a fellow Bronco lover. I started to acquire a ton of parts for my upcoming restoration of my first Bronco, which will take place this summer. My wife believes that I have spend about $1300 in parts so far. I don't have the heart to tell her that the front and rear bumpers alone cost me that much. The shit hit the fan yesterday because Wild Horses sent me a receipt through the mail for the front bumper I ordered.Guess who opened up the envelope? If you guessed my wife you guess right. She did this while I was driving home. I was about 1 1/2 hours away from home. I was yelled at then the silence treatment for over a hour. I would like to thank those at Wild Horses for that!##!!&***I don't know why they did that, I paid online. They should have sent the invoice with the bumper. Between us fellow Bronco lover's, I figure I have about $3500 in parts so far. How about you?

I picked mine up for about $800. I probably have close to $20K into it by now (and I still have only driven it once %)).

I haven't totalled it up, but I've been building mine for 10 years now, so it doesn't seem like much when spread out that long.

I'd never want to total up what I've spent on my EB and FSB rigs...it would certinly be in the 30-40K range at least.. Fortunately that's a)spread over many years b) not subject to any 'third party' review or approval. ;-) Said 'third party' has her own EB and FSB projects underway. ;D

I make sure my wife has no idea of what i spent on mine. I have about $8000 in mine including the purchase. When i swapped out the worn out steering column for the Toms Bronco flaming river kit (wheel, column, shaft and insert) in polished steel i just told my wife when she asked about it, "aww hell baby i just sprayed it with some of that chrome paint from NAPA... sure cleaned up nice" AND SHE BELIEVED IT.

I have about $7k in mine but its ugly. My wife thinks it gets about 5 mpg. The money she thinks is going into gas is actually going into parts. It may take me 6 months to save up enough for a part but there is no yelling unless she see's the reciept, which has only happened once. Working on a Bronco with a state employee income takes finess to say the least.

I can't believe the number of you that say you have to hide what you spend. I can't wrap my head around the concept...?:?

If you own your Bronco long enough like some of us have you can break even. I paid $3,000 for my uncut '74 Ranger back around 1988 and still remember my dad saying I payed way to much. I have sold around $3200 in parts that have come off the bronco as my bronco has changed a bunch. I guess I am way ahead considering how much fun I have experienced with the bronco. Besides it is fun to watch someone's face when they ask what did I pay for my bronco and I tell them $3,000. Obviously, I am into my Bronco for its current parts and future mods, but still a lot less than you might think. Do a spread sheet on the how the value of your bronco increases vs. its expenses compares to your family auto (depreciation) vs. its expenses and you might be able to get your wife to understand a little better the bronco addiction. Also selling off old parts after any mods helps in balancing out the cost equation. Currently, I can get more for my Bronco than what I have into it dollar wise, now if I add in the hours I have worked on it..................

The fun, adventures, and memories I have had in the Bronco world have been priceless. I wouldn't trade it!

Yeah, if the wife gives me grief about my purchases, I just point to the other side of the garage to the $35K SUV that I bought for her. Honestly, though, she doesn't give me grief about it any more. She just wants me to finish the damn thing. %)

I added it up one day . I do belive I could have bought a brand new super duty truck with all the bells and whistles for less than I've got in mine! But that's not what I wanted!
