The more I read this thread, the better I feel about the measly $$$ amount I throw at my bronco. My wife is our Chief Financial Officer, so no money slips by her. Next time she hesitates about my next "upgrade", I'm going to refer her to this thread and she'll be more than happy to add to the bronco fund...

$5000+ in first 3 months of ownership and I still need paint and tires/rims. My wife fell in love with the Bronco the first time she saw it so I am indeed....lucky!

Receipts are all in the tool chest..............I'm sure I don't really want to know. Still have to paint and get a top. Probably 12,000 to 15,000 grand though. Hey it's vintage!!!

Paid 3800. for mine have put about 10,000 in parts so far and will probably put another 6000-8000 before done. everything I have done so far has been safety related or upgrading parts that are broken at lest that's what I tell the wife. Hope she never finds the stack of receipts or the fact that when I want to upgrade things I break the old part on purpose.

I make sure my wife has no idea of what i spent on mine. I have about $8000 in mine including the purchase. When i swapped out the worn out steering column for the Toms Bronco flaming river kit (wheel, column, shaft and insert) in polished steel i just told my wife when she asked about it, "aww hell baby i just sprayed it with some of that chrome paint from NAPA... sure cleaned up nice" AND SHE BELIEVED IT.

Here is the problem. She made you think she believed you. ;)

She is just holding that info. for just the right moment, just about when you forgot you even bought the dang thing.

I used to keep a spreadsheet on everything, it is nice to have to look back on when selling off parts to see what you paid for them. I like to a major overhaul about every 2 years. this last build that I did probably set me back about $1k or so:cool:.. well maybe a little more than that;D.. I will say that my wife has never been to pissed about what I spend on it. She knows it is alot!! If she asked me I would tell her, she gave me $2500 to buy some axles last year.

all and all just over the past 10 years I would think that I am over $25k in it. it went from a street rig to a trail rig after all of that time and money. It looks worse now than it ever has, but I have more fun in it than ever!!!

I paid $600 for my '66 Roadster but it wasn't running (no motor or trans) back around 1996. I never did total the receipts but I do have them. I doubt I have $10K into it now. However I believe if I were to do it again today I'd probably have $30K into it easy. I was able to offset a lot of the cost by buying parts broncos. I bought 3 parts Broncos and took what I needed from each and sold off the rest. I always made money off of selling the extra parts and plus obtained parts I needed. Parts used to be a lot cheaper back then too. I often noticed that I could buy NOS Ford parts off of Ebay for less than after market parts.

I kept a spread sheet, but stopped keeping track at about $16k. Im probably at about $17.5k. The wife used to get upset, now she just deals with it because she knows im going to finish it no matter what.

I usually put about 2-6K in the truck each year and I have had it since 1996 I think. But I got it for only $500;D I tell the wife where we are @ every now and then and she just shakes her head:) I keep the bronco money out of the house finances and she is happy as long as I am too.....;) my wife is awesome.

I guess I am not the only one hiding things from his wife. It feels good to know I am among good company.
