since i bunt up my forward clutch packs in my C4. is there an easy way to clean it out or should i just buy a new one.?:?

Always buy a new one whenever you replace the trannie. You wouldnt reuse the fluid would you? If you would then forget what i said. And flushing the lines if you have a cooler ant a bad idea either.

Go to napa and you can get a new one for $80 or so. Just need to turn your old converter in when you go.

There's two options that I have seen done, but unfortunately they both involve the tranny being taken apart. Option one is to take the tranny to a shop that can flush your unit with fresh fluid mixed with a detergent, it can be expensive, but it will save you the time of cleaning. Option two sucks (do it all yourself), it will save you the most money, but you'll be sitting there for hours with break parts cleaner and a brass brush. The last C-4 I built for a friend I took completely apart, put everything in a large plastic storage tote with a heave duty degreaser/super hot water mix, and scrubbed the hell out of the unit. I hope someone knows more because I would like to know a better way myself...

If by smaller, you mean 10.5" bolt pattern for 164 tooth bellhousing, they don't. They do make 10.5" bolt pattern for 157 tooth bell but there are different and will not work in a 164 tooth bell.

i think that is one i got was for 157 tooth, going to call around and see if i can find one. running out of time for the holtz run

ok i got the right one ordered and it's cheaper. one more question Phil i got new detent springs for the t case J shift and the new springs are shorter than the old ones. will these work?

Yes. Shorter but generally stiffer. You should still have to compress them some to get the plugs in. I've found some small springs recently that fit inside the originals. Been trying them out in the last couple tcases I've rebuilt. They give just a couple additional lbs of pressure but still compress nicely.
