Converting my 72 with stock 302 to a C4. The Torque Converter I received with the C4 is the smaller 10.5" bolt pattern. I have read several threads and believe I must get a new TC that has the larger 11 3/8" bolt pattern in order to find and purchase a new 164 tooth, 28oz flexplate.

I am building a stock 302 so am looking for a near stock TC (I have read that stock stall is in range from 1500 to 1800). Anybody find a good vendor recently that stocks this type of TC? Any other suggestions regarding buying a new TC for this application?

Please update your profile with your location. There's a great torque converter shop in Fresno, CA. I just drove down there last month to get exactly the converter you are asking for. They knew all about the 164 tooth Bronco C4 converter. They were much more interested in knowing the input shaft spline count, because it might have been upgraded (???)

Pretty sure any transmission shop can get one. It’s more than likely going to be a rebuilt one. I had the same issue as you and got a 11.5” rebuilt converter from a local trans shop

I got a Boss Hog for my 73 - I've got it running & have less than a mile on it so I can't speak to how it really works yet but it seems fine. they offer stock no stall speed added 25140

I ended up getting the 2514HD - 200 over stock

Here's all the Ford converters they offer - go to the bottom of the page to zoom in on the list so you can read it

Called and spoke to the owner, Nelson, at Hogs Converters. What a great guy. He ran through all my engine mods, tranny, gearing, tire size, and even wanted specs on the heads and exhaust. Asked about use, preferences, etc. He dialed in the converter I need and the price is the best I have found. Great guy that invited me to tour his shop sometime. They put out over 30k TC per month. Highly recommend this company. He knew exactly what I needed for my Bronco. I ended up ordering the 25141 with stall 1600 to 2200.

Good to hear - I took a chance & ordered what I wanted based on reading specs from lots of different sources. Sounds like I got one right for once!

Doing the same C4 auto swap here. Anything else I need to get parts wise other than Trans, TC (going 25141 also) and 164 plate?

Are you getting a bronco c4 or one from another ride? I do not recommend installing a shift kit. I did and while it is a nice hard shift, I wished it was a bit smoother and quiet. Just make sure to do a good air pressure test on all the shifting when it is on the bench. Several YouTube videos show how to do it. Good luck.
