Trailering to Super Celebration

I just read the thread on anti-theft devices. I am trailering on a u-haul trailer my Bronco to the celebration. We are staying over night on the way down because it will be a 2 day trip from Wisconsin. I have been wondering for 2 weeks if my Bronco, on the trailer, will be safe while we are in the motel? Do any of you guys have any tips or suggestions?

Couple of things come to mind
First choose your accommodations along the way carefully. Another is parking, try to parallel park across multiple spaces outside your room backing up against a barrier like a hedge, tree or curb. Situation awareness is key. Keep your head on a swivel
Make sure your insurance is active and the value is updated
You might want to use something like this... https://brahmalock.com/
And lock the hitch

Have you installed a kill switch?

Once you're there much less worry

Be safe

Don’t know what you are towing with, but many vehicles are setup so that if the trailer wiring connector is unplugged while the vehicle is locked, the alarm will go off. That makes it difficult to steal a trailer.... I leave mine hitched up and back up to something so they can’t unload the Bronco. Then lock it all up and have a beer.......

I am towing with a 2013 F150. It has the towing pkg, and I will check tomorrow if the alarm goes off when I unplug the trailer.

I worry about someone taking tow vehicle, trailer and Bronco. My son had his F-250 stole while he was at a well lit Motel on the side of the interstate. The cops told him they have thieves that drive the interstates looking in parking lots of motels for vehicles that they want to steel. So I try not to use a Motel that is visible from the interstate. Some higher end motels have guards that patrol around the parking lot.

My wife, daughter, son in law and dog are coming with. Maybe the dog and I and the .357 should sleep in the truck.

Unplug the coil on your tow vehicle.

I've stayed in some pretty shady places while hauling my Bronco to events across the country. Like others say, I try to back up to a dumpster enclosure, shrubs, light pole base, etc. I've taken chains before and chained a the trailer tire to the trailer so it can't rotate. It would at least make noise cutting it. I always let the desk person know and ask if they will keep an eye out for me (sometimes I wonder if that's a good idea or not).

Good luck on your trip and see you there!

Stay away from budget motels along the state highways. That is where victims stay to await their fate. (tweeker Zone) Our trail club stayed in one in Needles, 7 rigs ransacked overnight. rigs were right outside the motel rooms. your so tired from traveling you don't hear a thing.
Drive through the parking lot before you rent the room make sure you have a decent place to park.

I travel a LOT, and have had my truck broken into twice in the last 5 years, it happens but be aware of where you are staying and be aware of where you park. Most of the theives are looking for specific things, guns, jewlery, cash, ect. not that complete vehicle theft doesn't happen, a break in/ransack is far more likely.
