Congrats and nice trailer!!! What does it weigh empty? How much tongue weight empty?

I have a similar looking trailer, but it's a 22' PJ equipment hauler with a split tilt-deck, 14K rating and it weighs just shy of 4000# empty with 800# tongue weight. I have also been pleasantly surprised with how well it pulls, empty or loaded, and I have a similar tow rig to yours (F250 crew, short bed, 6.7 diesel).

Weight is 3260, I can't remember what he told me the tongue weight is. This trailer comes standard with cross channels on 24" center for 14K GVWR, I chose 16" center which raised the capacity to 15K GVWR. Doing that change, adding LED lighting, side railing over the stake pockets, slide in ramps rather than fold up, and a storage box in the tongue added very little cost and was a no brainer to me after some prices I had been quoted at other places.

Very cool. The rub rails are nice when you need to haul other stuff and sure makes the flat-hooks ratchet straps a breeze. Are you going to add a stake pocket mount spare tire or two or do something else?

Kaufman makes a nice trailer. And they are good people to work with. I have used them to build a few custom equipment trailers for my work. They build a heavy duty trailer and are willing to make custom stuff at a reasonable price and the lead time to build is usually good. Good luck with it looks like it will do a good job.

I got a spare with it and they mounted it to the passenger side, figure I will find a used wheel or 2 for couple extras for long trips. Just strap them down like the bronco spares when carrying them. That's what I did on the trailer I had been using.

kaufman ... fell in my lap 2 weeks ago !

needs a 5th wheel conversion !

That's a nice trailer, I looked at one a couple of summers ago but it got away before I could get to it. Everyone around here converts their 5th wheel hitches to goose neck's lol. Lot's of farm trucks with goose neck in the beds already I guess.

Nice trailer JW. New trailer wheels are pretty cheap, usually $50. As for tires go to this or equal and never look back.

I was about to start switching all of my stuff to 17.5's to get away from crappy trailer tires. Started running an equal tire to this and all issues stopped. The key is all steel belts like a semi truck tire they are rated at 4400# each:eek: so weight is never an issue

Do you notice much difference in ride quality between the G and E-rated tires? I drove a couple trailers with the G tires and they just about beat me to death empty compared to the E-rated tires, but maybe that was more the trailer than the tire, I don't know.

I don't on my trailers but have on others. Loaded is no different. To me irregardless the E rated trailer tires are all junk, I've bought expensive ones and cheap ones, some are better than others but I wouldn't call any of them great and have never found any that I could run for more than a year doing more than very local hauling (20 mile or less trips). Now if your running light enough, under 5500# per axle light truck E rated tires hold up very well, still running them on my redneck hauler and have about 40,000 miles on them, but total axle weight is 13k over 3 axles.

Sorry jump after a squirrel... specifically I have not noticed a difference, I do pull with an 8900# tow rig so things that would rattle your fillings on an f150 I barely notice. But I'll take a rougher ride empty (if I could tell) to not have issues loaded.

I’ve been on the fence about a 2 car hauler for the past few years. We finally recently bought a 32 ft Kaufman trailer to haul 2. My main concern was the rear tires on my truck. I bought the highest weight rating tire I could find for my factory rims. They are Nitto ridge grapplers, rating is 4080LB per tire. I am also running air bags on the rear of the truck. I went with a little longer trailer than needed for 2 broncos, the main reason being I want to be able to move the broncos around to get the weight right. From past experience a few feet forward or back makes a huge difference in the truck ride. I was also happy to find a none dove tail trailer should be less likely to drag, since i will be hauling 4x4's the steeper ramps are not a problem. Like yeller said, the truck rides great with the front bronco halfway between the front axle of the trailer and the front of the trailer. That’s how it is in the picture.

I don’t know what year 6.7 you have but they are awesome tow trucks. I recently removed a torpedo looking thingy from under the truck and with a 40 hp tow tune I’m getting 11.5-12mpg at 70ish with 3.55 gears.

With that being said the truck does great, and I feel comfortable with the setup, but my next truck will be a dually. I blew a rear tire out a few years ago pulling my fifth wheel at hwy speed, that was no fun and it’s always in the back of my mind.

Do you know the weight of your trailer? Not loaded, just the trailer alone. Curious the difference between 32 ft gooseneck and the 26 ft bumper pull.

My truck is 2012, 6.7. I bought it new, just turned 110K miles. I added an AirRaid cold air intake but other than that it's just like I bought it.

All of this discussion about weights reminds me I really need to write a towing article. I've been compiling info for a few years, all started when I was looking at replacing my triple axle GN with a tandem and it morphed into a lot more. What it really lead me too was how many of us have over loaded trailers and particular how many overload their 7k car hauler, it was really scary.

Nice looking trailer anythingford:)
